I graduated from the Lyceum named after Academician Konstantin Sibirsky. Then I entered the Polytechnic University of Moldova as an architect. During school and before the 3rd year of university I used to play basketball professionally, and now I play it for pleasure from time to time. I believe that in order to be in harmony with yourself, you must develop both mentally and physically.
I am inspired by life in all its diversity, and this is one of the reasons why I volunteer. In the volunteer center I met many people, some of whom became my friends. This is the intrigue of life, you never know what will change if you just go to an event, take part in something, offer help, smile, speak to someone.
I can not emphasize a specific moment in my volunteer activity, which I remember the best. It seems to me that after every time I take part in any action, I learn something new about how the world works, and it’s priceless. “Be always in search of yourself and look at the world with wide eyes, be afraid to miss something special in everyday life”, – that is my wish to those who want to do something meaningful and useful. For example, volunteer!

My name is Olga. I like to organize master classes and presentations on the theme of beauty and health of the body. I also like to help people very much. Several years ago I underwent an oncologic operation, after which I was given the disability of the second group. The rehabilitation period was difficult, but I did not lose hope of a return to normal life. Volunteering helped me a lot. I learned about the RVC when I took courses in KEDEM in October 2015. I was delighted that now I can spend my free time with profit, participate in projects that work for the benefit of society. The first action, in which I took part, was the cleaning of the Alunelul Park in the framework of the “Clean Chisinau” project. I was happy with the fact that I was able to refine at least a small part of the city. I also helped in organizing a bicycle race for the elderly.
To do good, to be useful to someone is a great pleasure.
It would be great if more young people were involved in volunteering, because they have more time and energy for this. Any of us can be useful for society. We create the world in which we live!

I was born on March, 15. For many people this is an ordinary day but for my parents this is a special day.
Since childhood, I have been keen on psychology; therefore it was my major at the university. As a student, I had worked for an international company in the sales department for almost 2 years. Thanks to this, I have learned to pull myself together and to get along with people. I invest much time and energy in my professional development. Nevertheless, I find time for my family and friends, play board games and chat with them in the evening.
As a child, I was told by my parents to care about others and to help those in need. My first volunteer experience was when I took part in the Pink March project (March of Women) dedicated to women with breast cancer. On that day, we provided psychological support to women struggling with breast cancer, told them about this disease risk factors and urged people to take care of their mothers, sisters, wives, and grandmothers.
Another memorable moment I have experienced was the Good Deeds Day. I was very much impressed by the number of people united by the same idea – doing good deeds. I was happy to see that people of all ages and different backgrounds had gathered together to help others. Now, I know that friendship can begin with a balloon and a sincere smile.
Since I started volunteering, most of my troubles have become trifling and insignificant and half of them have disappeared forever. Start volunteering today and you will get a new vision!

My name is Irina. I live in Chisinau. I am a first-year student at the Faculty of Biology and Soil Science at the State University of Moldova. I like walking because this is good for your health. When I walk I like to observe people: their behavior, speech, appearance.
Recently, I have become keen on volunteering. For me, this is an opportunity to get closer to people and to understand them better. Sometimes, volunteering means hard work but this is nothing comparing to the feeling you get when you see the smiling faces of our beneficiaries and hear their sincere and heartfelt ‘THANK YOU’.
I have decided to start volunteering because helping people, animals and the world as a whole means a lot to me. Thanks to volunteering, I have a new vision, a lot of friends, and I am very happy.
I started volunteering in November, 2016, that is to say I am just a beginner. Nevertheless, I have had great and unforgettable experience. I am not going to take too much of your time by telling you all the stories because the conclusions I have drawn are more important, to my mind.
For example, I did not expect the elder to be so cheerful and make you start thinking positively. I did not know that young children can be so smart, that their point of view can change your vision. I did not expect stray animals to be so friendly and affectionate and make you want to visit the animal shelter again and again.
My best memories are related to our team of volunteers. The time spent with them I will always remember as a wonderful experience! Meetings, workshops, fun activities, holiday celebrations among friends – all this gives me positive emotions and motivates me to take action, to help people and cheer them up. Volunteer activities brought us together, and that made us feel like a large happy family.
To those who are still hesitating over whether or not to start volunteering, I would say that as a volunteer you spend your free time in a meaningful way by doing something useful. Volunteering will change you for the better – you will become more sympathetic towards others. If you do good, the good comes back to you but in a different capacity. That is why volunteers are always surrounded by nice people.

Galina Breghid is a third-year student at the Faculty of interior design and a hard-working volunteer. She likes drawing and volunteering on a variety of projects. It was a spontaneous decision: to spend time in a meaningful way by helping those in need. Presentation of her first social project was the most exciting moment for Galina.
The importance of the project made her feel confident and enthusiastic. She has taken advantage of many opportunities and developed new valuable skills and knowledge. She has learned to communicate with different types of people. She has realized that she can do something to make a difference in the world. “It is cool to be a volunteer! This is an amazing feeling when you are useful. You meet new friends and with time you feel like a large family!” – Galina says.

My name is Vadim. I grew up in Chisinau, then moved to Moscow where I graduated from the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering and got a degree in construction in 2016. Now, I work at a construction site. I am keen on sports. My other hobby is volunteering.
I started volunteering as a child and have been doing this all my life. But I began to develop new valuable skills and knowledge only when I met the Republican Volunteer Center team.
For me, volunteering is a way to make a difference in our society, to sensibilize people to each other and to the world in general.
I cannot remember any special moment from my volunteer experience now. But every time I help someone, I get positive energy. Volunteering helps me fight negative thinking and bring joy into other people’s lives.
To those who want to start volunteering, I would advise to make this decision being guided by sentiment, rather than by reason. Only when it comes from your heart, your satisfaction is guaranteed. Please support those who want to volunteer, do not criticize them. Volunteer activities bring much benefit to the society, the more volunteers we have, the better our life is!

My name is Maria. I am 24 years old. I graduated from the Technical University of Moldova and got a degree in graphic design and printing technology. Now, I work as a children’s books graphic designer, I also design various products layout. My hobby is making cards. Besides, I sing in a choir. My other passion is volunteering. My first experience as a volunteer was at school when I took part in various volunteer activities in the field of environmental protection.
A year ago, I found out about the Republican Volunteer Center and got involved in a number of projects. I decided to volunteer because I believe that in such a way I can make a difference in the world, both at the local level and globally.
Volunteering has become my lifestyle, it gives me positive emotions, brings joy and happiness in my life.
Happy smiles on the faces of our beneficiaries, their heartfelt gratitude and the stories they tell are the biggest reward I get. All this is very valuable to me.
One of my best memories is related to the Good Deeds Day 2016 when I got involved in volunteer activities carried out by the Republican Volunteer Center team. I felt being part of a very important and significant event, I felt myself surrounded by amazing people, in nice environment.
To those who are still hesitating over whether or not to start volunteering, I would advise to start as soon as possible! Brush your fears, doubts and excuses away, just make the first step and go ahead. You will gain unforgettable experience! You will make a difference in someone’s life, and volunteering will completely change your own life!

I left Mircea Eliade Lyceum. Now, I am a first-year student at the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, I study tourism. I like traveling because in such a way I see the world and develop new valuable skills.
I have been volunteering for two years now. I first came to the Republican Volunteer Center seven months ago and joined the project called Give a Smile. I just wanted to develop new skills and knowledge, to meet new people and make friends but now I realize that for me volunteering means much more, that this my lifestyle, that it has already become part of me.
Now, I cannot imagine my life without children. Talking about my volunteer experience, I remember my first visit to the orphanage with other volunteers of the project called Give a Smile. We also often visit children at the Republican Oncology Institute.
In conclusion, I want to say that volunteering gives you positive emotions, brings joy and happiness in your life. When you volunteer for a long time, it becomes part of your life. And I would like to see more young people volunteer. Nowadays, there are many volunteer opportunities in different organizations.

My name is Elena. I am from the north of Moldova, from the town of Riscani. I left Liviu Damian Lyceum and moved to Chisinau. In 2015 I entered Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, the Faculty of General Medicine. Now, I am a sophomore.
I like walking, listening to jazz and instrumental music, reading classic English literature. Sometimes, I even write poems. I am also keen on football, tennis, and volleyball.
I believe that helping others is one of the most important and noble human acts. Thanks to the Republican Volunteer Center, I got involved in volunteer activities. My affection for children brought me to the wonderful project called Give a Smile, within the framework of which I volunteer every weekend.
The most exciting moment in my volunteer activity was my first visit to V. Ignatenko Children’s Hospital where I met a nice four-year-old girl. First, she was very reserved; then, suddenly she took me by the hand. At that moment, I felt that she trusts me, and we became friends.
Each visit to V. Ignatenko Children’s Hospital or the Republican Oncology Institute creates lasting, happy memories.
For me, volunteering means deep feelings, sincere emotions, communication with decent people. Volunteering has become part of my life; this is an opportunity to help others, to be more attentive, to develop a sense of delicacy and positive thinking.
When I look into the children’s sad eyes, when I see how patient and persistent they are in their struggle for life, I learn to live and to cherish every moment, to be strong and purposeful.
I believe that volunteering is a conscious choice influenced by various factors. In my case, this is altruism. People decide to become volunteers based on their values and vision but when you make a choice, it must come from your heart.
If you feel, at least, a little bit happier doing good deeds, then you are welcome in our Republican Volunteer Center!

I graduated from the Chisinau College of Transport and got a degree in Computer Diagnostics and Homologation of Motor Vehicles. Now, I perform diagnostics, repair, and computer configuration tasks. I do not have a permanent job; that is why I have much time for my hobbies. I play the guitar, write music, and repair bicycles. Sometimes, I get orders for taking and processing pictures, shooting short films about the city architecture.
Volunteering for me is an exceptional opportunity to help people, regardless of their age, social status, and religion. I started volunteering in the fall of 2015.
My first experience as a volunteer was in the project called Clean Chisinau. After that, I felt the inner necessity to help others. Within the framework of the second project, I visited the animal shelter called The Island of Hope. We brought dog food and other necessary things, and cleaned up the territory. After that, I got involved in the Repair School project. I used my skills as a repairman of household appliances to help the elder by fixing the windows, repairing old devices and furniture, etc. The repair classes held in the Republican Volunteer Center were very useful!
In fact, each project in which I participate creates memorable experiences. When I get involved in a new project, I remember all the details because for me everything is new and interesting.
I think that the best way to become a volunteer is to make up your mind. Your friends’ advice or your acquaintances’ invitations do not guarantee that you will still be interested in volunteering in the future. And it is absolutely different when your inner volunteer breaks free and makes you do good deeds. If you feel that inner volunteer inside, you are welcome in our Republican Volunteer Center!

Lilia is a skilled and experienced volunteer. She has been volunteering for 5 years. Besides, she works as a sales manager in a building materials store. Lilia is bringing up a wonderful daughter who attends a Jewish school. She found out about the volunteer activities carried out by the Jewish Community members when she was at the summer family camp. She says that they were surrounded by nice people and had a great time together. Lilia enjoyed the time spent at the summer camp so much that she decided to become a member of the Family Club by the Jewish Cultural Center KEDEM.
One day, Lilia asked herself what volunteering means. Does it mean to help an old person cross the road, or, maybe, to spend time with someone’s children or to replace a colleague when he or she cannot come to work? She has come to the conclusion that for her volunteering can take many different forms – the most important thing is to want to help others and to be helpful.
Thanks to well-organized volunteer projects, the Jewish Community has become Lilia’s second family. She says that once you become a volunteer, you know exactly when, where and what you can do to help others because the organization guides you. This is why Lilia tries to get her friends and acquaintances involved in volunteer activities.
According to Lilia, another advantage of volunteering is the feeling of satisfaction you get from helping others. This makes you self-confident. You feel that you can change the world, and you want to do more.

Iana studies at the Theodore Herzl ORT Jewish Technology Lyceum. She is fond of volleyball. Iana has known about the Republican Volunteer Center for a long time. She used to go to the summer camps organized by the Jewish Youth Club Haverim. She enjoyed every minute of it. They combined games and various fun activities with lectures on Jewish history and traditions.
Now, she is 16 years old, and she has been volunteering for a year. Most of all, she liked the Global Day of Jewish Learning: the activities, the volunteers, the guests were amazing. She was surprised that, despite her young age, people took her seriously and considered her opinion.
Her first experience as a volunteer was in the Suitcase of Good Deeds project. Iana was strolling through the park and giving candies to passers-by. People were very surprised and always smiled at her.
Iana remembers very well her visit to the orphanage. She felt both happy and sad at the same time: happy because children thanked her and sad because she could not visit and help them every day.
Iana’s mother supports her in volunteering, while her friends sometimes ask her why she is doing this. She always says that she is very happy to be able to help those in need.
Iana wants to continue volunteering when she leaves school, even if she goes abroad.

My name is Greta. I am 23 years old. I studied at the Moldova State University and worked in a law firm. Once I graduated from the University, I quit my job because I felt I should take a break for a year. I spent that time reading books, listening to music, watching soap operas. One day, a friend of mine told me about the Republican Volunteer Center, and I decided to become a volunteer. I was very excited about it, and did not quit volunteering even when I found a good job. People often ask me: “Why are you doing this? Nobody pays you for that work – you are just wasting your time!” I do not even know what to say… Maybe, I am doing this for the sake of a child’s smile or his/her mother’s sincere “thank you”, maybe, just because I want to make the world a better place. You know, there is a quote: “If you want to change the world, start with yourself”.
One day, on the way back home, when I was very tired after work and gloomy, a child approached me and greeted me. I did not recognize him but he said that I was visiting him in the hospital, and thanked me for playing with him. And this made me happy. At that moment, I understood why I am doing this. Such moments of heartfelt gratitude are very precious to me! Doing good deeds is not difficult at all, you should only try. It is better than watching soap operas. Just look around and think what you can do to make someone’s day!

My name is Grisha. I have spent my school days in lyceum “A.S. Pushkin”, and after that have graduated from Economic Academy to Chisinau. For 8 years I have worked in National Bank in department of information security. Now I work as a product manager. Usually I have little free time, but when it appears, I spend it with friends playing developing board games. Now I am also volunteering in my free time. It is difficult for me to allocate something special in my volunteer activity, but I like to look at and to enjoy how children smile. I consider that everyone can change the world to the best!

My name is Alexander. For 2 years I have studied at the Technical University of Moldova, at the Faculty of “Information Technology”, but from the beginning I knew it was not for me. This is why my higher education is still in process. My workdays are spent at the Medical stock and at the computer. In this work there is a lot of interesting things, but for 11 years in this area all became monotonous. Once my friends and I came across the phrase: “Do good and run away”. Naturally, weunderstood it in our special way, used all our imagination and long sneered at her. And since then, everything has changed. I can say it became my motto. This idea has fascinated me, and soon I found an organization, which aim is to do good deeds. I would like to wish everyone: “Guys, beware! Watch where you’re going and whom you communicate with! Volunteering causes addiction, it pulls you out of your comfort zone, where everything is on it’s place”. Dear friend! Only you areresponsible for your own deeds. And by you also your parents, friends, and the whole city may be known! So think first, and then act.

My name is Natasha, I have graduated from the State institute of the international relations. I love my hometown, Chisinau, very much. I feel also special love to animals because they are the most sincere and devoted creatures. I have became a volunteer because I derive pleasure from the opportunity to help people around me. I appreciate the organization in this occupation because only this way leads to significant results. I often take part in the projects connected with helping elderly people. Their wisdom and experience have always interested me. In RVC I have an opportunity to help persons in need, to make new acquaintances and to learn more about Jewish culture and values. For me there is nothing more important, than to give joy and light, and in reply to receive gratitude. I wish all people to be kinder and more tolerant, not to be afraid to make noble acts. All this will return to you in a triple size, don’t doubt. Remember that when you give you don’t lose, but even get much more.

I study in the 12th class in lyceum “N. V. Gogol”. In my free time I like to practice sports, to watch movies and to read books. A year ago, on December 12, I was invited to the Fair of Volunteer Vacancies. Till this day I knew nothing about volunteering, and after the Fair I have become interested in it. Volunteering for me is a small island where I come, forget about everything and just do good deeds, help people in need. From my volunteer activity I remember a moment when I met the Sabbath with one very kind elderly woman within the project “Origins of Mercy”. I liked this Sabbath thanks to cozy and warm atmosphere. The hostess played the piano and has met us by laid table. My advice to all beginning volunteers: if your soul lies to volunteering, then just do it! If not in RVS, then in projects of other organizations or independently.

I have graduated from N. Gogol Lyceum, then entered the Institute of International Relations at the faculty of translation. I am fond of reading, writing poems and poetry itself. I also like to spend my time with the children, and when they smile at me in response. Volunteering for me is the way to spiritual happiness and the realization that my life is useful to someone. It always cheers me up. I think working with the children in Oncological hospital makes me stronger.
In the hematology department there is a baby, whose name is Arisha. I always smile, remembering the time spent with her.Together we have made a penguin and a cow out of paper, and then we drew a lawn, where the animals met and became friends. We have created a real puppet theatre with her! I managed to fall in love with this girl, and always try to give all my warmth and care to make her life a little bit better. I would like to say that volunteering changes lives. Disappear such thing as selfishness, anger, hate, and in their place comes the desire to help and to make people’s lives happier. Therefore I appeal to all of the people to do good deeds every day, because it is the only way to change this world for the better.

My name is Denis. Since my childhood I have a great interest in photography, I participated in the international competitions. One of my main qualities I consider paying attention to others. I have been volunteering since I am 15. Initially I went to schools and photographed graduates for vignettes with my friends. In October 2015 I organized a photo exhibition on my own to raise some money for the treatment of a girl with cancer.
I learned about RVC from photo exhibition in the shopping center Malldova. The first project for me in the volunteer center was shooting of the documentary “Where I was found by the Victory II». I was always interested to talk with people who have gone through the War, to listen to their unique stories and to learn about the difficulties of living in the time of war. Previously, I was involved in shooting of a film about the heroes and events of the Great Patriotic War. In addition to working with the veterans I like to communicate with children. I see the infinite potential in all of them and try to help them to develop their abilities.
There are many talented and friendly people in RVC, so every time I come here I know I will find here a lot of ideas on how I can help the world.

I’m in College of microelectronics. I spend my free time taking pictures, doing sports or going hiking. Why have I decided to become a volunteer? My close friend used to say: “We are born to live for others.” When you do something good for others, you feel yourself better. I think, that volunteering first of all helps you to abstract from your own problems, to distract from everyday life.
A striking proof of this is the impression I had after visiting a shelter for dogs “Island of Hope” in the framework of the volunteer project. I will never forget that great experience and pets’ thankful eyes. I believe that the main advantages of volunteering is the opportunity to do something really useful and to be surrounded by people with the same point of view and dreams.
Regardless of whether you are a volunteer or not, each of us must be a good man. And all the rest is not so important.

I am a student at Moldova State University, where I study business and management. I like to travel around Europe, to cook and to read books. I strive to lead an active social life and volunteering is the best way to do it. In my volunteer work, I spend a lot of time with children. Several times I have been a leader at children summer camp, have organized holidays for children, and in the framework of RVC I am involved in the project “Give a smile”. I visit children in the children’s hospital “V. Ignatenko” and in children’s department at the Oncology Institute. In addition, I spend time with elderly people of the Community, taking part in the project “Origins of Mercy”. I meet Shabbat with people of the “golden age.” Volunteering for me is a way to feel necessary and to bring benefit to others.

My name is Mary and I am a student at the Lyceum of Academy of Sciences of Moldova. In my Lyceum volunteer activity is obligatory. It was a good chance for me, because I always wanted to help someone. I even thought to organize a trip with my classmates to the orphanage to play with children, spend time with them and to hold some competitions. I am also a volunteer in the organization sporter.md. When I was helping in organization of New Year Marathon, I met the guys from RVC, who told me about the volunteer activities of the Center. I was most interested in project “Give a smile,” because I always wanted to help children. Now I often visit the children’s hospital “V. Ignatenko” and children’s department at the Oncology Institute. It is very important for me to see children’s smiles, as well as to realize that I can make their lives brighter and bring the recovery closer. I hope to continue my volunteer work, and try myself in other projects, such as a trip to the orphanage, which I want to accomplish for a long time.

My name is Victor and I am a graduate of the Academy of Arts. I am a photographer. I’m fond of reading, and I love hanging out with friends. One day I decided to spend some free time on good deeds. I think this step is one of the most important. I am sure that doing something good increases the potential of any person. While volunteering, I pay special attention to the emotions of the old. Wrinkles around their eyes, which are formed by the thankful smiles and happy voice – all this gives me positive energy. I advice future volunteers never to be afraid to do something for other people. Be prepared for the fact that it will take you much time and energy, but the result will totally surprise you! Volunteers are absolutely different people. Among us there are economists, artists and even doctors. It does not matter who you are by profession. If you are able to use your skills for the benefit of society, do not miss your chance to do it.

I study at the Polytechnic College. I practice fire show, play djembe, love to travel and to philosophize on various topics. I got in RVC thanks to my girlfriend. I am a volunteer with great pleasure, help in different projects and events. Here I found good friends and I like to spend time with them outside volunteer center, too. I am often involved in community events, helping with organization. Also I visit children at the boarding school №3, entertaining them with interesting quizzes and competitions. I recently took part in shooting of the documentary film dedicated to the Victory Day. Its goal is to save the memory of those who gave us the freedom, fighting for the motherland. I try to take part in as many projects as I can and spend most of my time on meetings and voluntary.

I am a student at the State University. I am going to be a translator. I like to spend my free time watching movies or reading books, and communicating with friends. The catalyst for the idea of volunteering was the desire to spend time usefully helping people. I believe that in life there is a place for something good. Thanks to RVC, I began to see the world more widely and in some cases even easier. The most memorable for me was the trip to Odessa, in local volunteer center. The ability to share experience and ideas with like-minded people is priceless for me. Also important was Good Deeds day, where I helped in the work of blood donation points. I’m sure that everything depends on you. If you want to do something priceless, you’ll find the opportunity. Voluntary is activity in which you may find something useful for self-development and knowledge of the world around you. It does not matter what you choose. It is important that doing well you feel you are useful.
